Mirifiques Aventures de Maitre Antifer Jules Verne c1900 J Hetzel et Cie : Paris 11" by 7" [5], 2-420pp SUMMARY A smart copy of Jules Verne's adventure novel from his 'Extraordinary Voyages' series. Illustrated Overall Condition: Good This book weighs 1.5 KG when packed UK Postage: £ 3.99 US Postage: £ 29.99 EU Postage : £ 21.99 European Postage: £ 23.99 Asia Postage: £ 37.99 Worldwide Postage: £ 38.99 DESCRIPTION Illustrated throughout, with fourteen plates, two are maps. Undated, dated using Philippe Jauzac's bibliography of Verne. As this copy has been rebound and the adverts discarded, dating this copy is difficult. However, this is definitely an early printing from the other points noted by Jauzac. Captain Antifer tells the story of a treasure hunt, with the protagonist being led on a complicated route from Tunisia to the Persian Gulf, the Gulf of Guinea and then to Edinburgh, Spitsbergen and finally the Mediterranean off Sicily. CONDITION In a quarter morocco binding, with paper covered boards. Externally, generally smart. Rubbing to the joints and extremities. Hinges are slightly strained but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright. Scattered spotting to the first and last few pages. Otherwise, just the odd spots to pages. Overall Condition: Good GLOSSARY OF TERMS Overall Condition (Dustwrapper condition rating is shown after that for the book itself, where a dustwrapper is present) Fine - Very well preserved copy showing very little wear Very Good Indeed - Only one or two minor faults, really a very attractive copy Very Good - Quite a wide term meaning no major faults but probably several smaller ones often expected given the age of the book, but still a respectable copy Good - Meaning not very good. I bought this for the copy's associations with a family I'm interested in, thanks to the suggestions about provenance in the seller's description. The description and photos told me all I needed to know about the book - clearly the right family, though I have my own view on the individual who owned it - but that is part of the fund of an old book. It arrived promptly - a couple of days' delay caused by UPS - safely packaged and a good price, I think.

Excellent in every respect; much better than originally described and pictured. The shipping was exceptionally fast, and the books arrived precisely on schedule. The packaging was both robust and thoughtful, which always makes a most distinct difference. I am grateful for this great value and for your having accepted my offer. Thank you so much for a truly pluperfect transaction.

The shipping was lightning fast, arriving in 3 days from UK to US. The book was packaged with extreme care, very important for an antique book. The overall condition of the book is also unbelievable for its age, even better than described. I’ve purchased numerous other books from this seller, and the quality and price have always been outstanding. Great eBay seller. Thanks!
