Description
American Universal Geography – or, a view of the present state of all the empires, kingdoms, states and republics in the known world, and of the United States of America in particular. In two parts. .Part I. Being a New Edition of the American Geography, corrected and greatly enlarged. Also Part II. containing a geographical description of the Eastern Continent and Islands . By Jedidiah Morse Published: Isaiah Thomas, Ebenezer T. Andrews, Boston, 1793 . Full leather binding. Married set, as faded spine labels are different color for each volume. Volume I has the front board detached and a crack along the spine, though the text block appears to holding well. Volume II is much more solidly bound. Scuffing to the covers on both volumes. All maps are present. Many are in remarkable condition. A few have some minor issues with awkward fold lines (most of these maps are larger folding) and a few closed tears or edge wear. Happy to check on condition of any specific map or provide more detail or pics for specific maps upon request. All in all, a nice set of a work usually much more worn and often incomplete in form or another. The map District of Maine, by Osgood Carleton, is the first separate map of Maine not part of a regional map. Joseph Purcell's map of the Southeast shows the "Country of Frankland", the only appearance of this designation known on a map (easily worth 2/3 the value of the set). Scarce example in this completeness and condition. Very SCARCE title to be found COMPLETE with all 10 maps! Not Ex-Lib. I've done my best to describe the books, but if you have additional questions, please don't hesitate to send me an e-mail.

My order arrived quickly and it was packaged very well. The item I ordered was described perfectly and it even exceeded my expectations. The retail and shipping costs were both a great value. The Seller communicated with me throughout the entire sales process. I will order from this Seller again and I highly encourage others to do the same. This was a great retail experience!!!

Very rare item published in my home city in 1874. So pleased that this was offered for auction. The book is in better condition that would be expected for something 151 years of age. Well packaged for shipping which arrived seamlessly. Better than described. Value is priceless. Transaction was flawless. Recommended A+++

Split hinges unmentioned (reparable with skill and some rice paper), but still a handsome and serviceable copy, largely as described. Arrived well-packed in a heavy box and a waterproof plastic sleeve! Promptly shipped, a good value for money spent! Thanks!
