Hammond & Company Inc. Endless maps, almost certainly well over 200, every single map a loose sheet which is removable. Text in English. Attractive antiquarian full leather binding, gilt title lettering & pictorial cover decorations. Monumental atlas - a large and very heavy book! Book is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. The atlas was designed to allow for map sheets to be added at any time due to the screw and peg binding. Binding gently age worn but still appealing, joints slightly scuffed but still supple, remains overall clean and attractive as an early 20th century Atlas, issued between the two world wars.. Paper is gently age toned as typical, internally book remains mostly clean, tight and sound. An atlas which has been taken care of but may/ does not look like new. Very expensive in it's day, scarce today. Still attractive on the shelf. Book displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in rather nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws seem easy to overlook or forgive. Please review photos for more detailed attempt to present this book as it survives. We often over-describe any flaws that many sellers would not even bother to mention since most people would overlook them as minor and unworthy of comment.
