Shelf wear on edges and corners of the green leather-like cover. You can see it in the pictures. All pages are attached and complete; no writing on inside or on any of the maps. I took pictures of the title page and the facing page so you can see what I am going to describe: The left side has a type of gold "border" that I cannot tell is original or something that was added. The title page has a small rip at the bottom and a small ink scribble and a small, light water stain which lessens as you page through and disappears by about page 50. It never touches the maps. The last page (which contains the end of the Constitution of the United States) has a tear down the left inside side. the page is still attached and it does not interfere with any type. This is so much more than just a collection of maps. In its own words on the title page: "A comprehensive geographical, physical, commercial and historical presentation of the world, by means of a complete series of maps in full color, explanatory text, tables, statistics, charts, and an encyclopedic gazetteer of towns and cities of all countries...fully illustrated". This vintage Atlas contains an exhaustive number of maps from around the world and beyond with information and analysis of physical and commercial information as well as information on population statistics, rivers railroads physical and physical features of the United States and countries around the world. Included is a list of presidents and the electoral vote, chief airways of the US and Canada, States, their capitals and order and date of entering the Union. Covered in dark green, leatherbound boards, the Atlas also includes a Star map of the constellations. There are economic maps of the United States showing the value of everything from forest products to farm animals to petroleum and gas fields and more. With over 100 full-page color maps, this beautiful Atlas provides a glimpse back in time as we return to the world as it was in 1949. A must-have for any serious collector's reference bookshelf. The pictures are of the book you will actually receive. I try to include pictures of anything you might need to see, but if you still have questions, just ask me. I always make sure to pack securely so the book you get still looks exactly like the book I mailed.
