For your considerations is a very good First Edition of The American Lawyer, and Business-Man’s Form-Book by Delos W. Beadle published by Phelps & Fanning in New York, 1851 The book consists of 359 pages plus one page of the publisher’s reviews of the book and includes 32 double page maps (31 States plus the United States). United States laws with forms and instructions are addressed in pages 9 thru 155. Topics include mortgages, deeds, debts, contracts, leases, wills, marriage, business partnerships, oaths of office, naturalization and other legal considerations. A double page map of the United States appears on Pages 342/343. Special Laws of the 31 individual States (as of 1851) are covered in pages 156 through 341 and the Special Laws for each state are preceded by a double page map of the State and each State seal is printed adjacent to the first paragraph of the individual State’s text. Business matters such as United States and Foreign Postage, Bookkeeping and Table of Gold and Silver Coins are covered in pages 344 thru 358. The interior of the book is in very good condition with no markings to the pages. There is some light foxing throughout the book. The book is bound in the original leather and has been professionally rebacked with a new leather label with gilt lettering. A previous owner’s last name (Shelton) is written, in ink, near the top of the front pastedown. A very nice copy of a very collectable title. Thank you,
