Description
Very good condition hardcover book. I suspect this book to be rebound in the 1950s. From the personal library of Lincoln MacVeagh, former US ambassador to Spain, Portugal, Greece, Yugoslavia, South Africa, and Iceland. He was also US Minister to Greece. Many of these appointments were during the sensitive times of WWII. Exterior: 3/4 leather binding is clean tight and square. Five raised bands on the spine. Leather spine and corners. Some chipping top of spine.?Cloth boards. Gilt text on the spine. Corner and spine end wear. About 10” tall. Interior: pages are clean with no handwriting or creasing. Many large foldout maps with some short closed tears. Toning of page margins. Lincoln and Margaret MacVeagh bookplate on front pastedown. 341 pages and 25 maps, of which eleven are large folding plates. Many of the maps are at the end of the book as a group.
