This is a Very Good plus Copy of this book bound in full leather. From the personal library of Lincoln MacVeagh, former US ambassador to Spain, Portugal, Greece, Yugoslavia, South Africa, and Iceland. He was also US Minister to Greece. Many of these appointments were during the sensitive times of WWII. Exterior: Full leather binding is clean square and tight. Four raised bands on the spine. Gilt text on the spine. All page edges bright gilt. Very little corner and spine end wear. Mostly three spots of spine wear. Half inch long gouge in the leather top of the back cover. About 8-7/8” tall. Interior: pages are clean with no handwriting tears or creasing. Lincoln and Margaret MacVeagh bookplate on front pastedown. Gift inscription to Davenport MacVeagh on the top of the fourth page. Lincoln MacVeagh’s full name was “Davenport Lincoln MacVeagh”. 107 b/w illustrations plus five very good condition folding maps in the back. 468 pages.
