Authored by Henry Russell, with Introductions by Senators Redfield Proctor and John M. Thurston. Published by A.D. Worthington & Co of Hartford in 1898. IN NICE CONDITION! Leather embossed boards with very clear gilt spine and front board titling. There has been some work to bring the leather and gilt titling a bit to life. The spine was lacking some leather at the bottom and this was filled in with replacement leather. There was some reinforcement of the attachment of the boards to the spine - the work on the attachment of the front board is shown in a listing photo. Finally, the spine leather was cracked down the middle - this is also shown in a listing photo. Original beautiful floral endpapers, NICE MAPS INSERTED AS PUBLISHED AT FRONT AND BACK OF THE BOOK. These were two-sided maps. The front and back of the back map had a world map on the back side. MANY B&W PLATES, SOME ENGRAVED PORTRAITS WERE TISSUE PROTECTED, including the frontispiece portrait of the author and two others found inside the book (both shown in listing photos).
