Complete in two volumes. Volume I has been misbound, with title to spine stating 'Volume III'. Featuring bookplates of a 'Geo. G. Guy' and 'Norman G. Guy' tipped to the front pastedown of each volume. With a list of subscribers to the rear of volume II. Copiously illustrated throughout with numerous plates, many of which are folding. With a coloured folding plate to the rear of volume II. CONDITION In a half crushed morocco binding with marbled paper over boards. Externally, minor shelf wear to extremities. Rubbing to spine resulting in slight loss to gilt and loss to head of spine volume I. Volume I misbound, with title to spine stating 'Volume III'. Tape repair to rear hinge of volume I. Front board detached but present, volume I. Rear hinge volume I partially split and tender, may detach with further handling. Hinges split and strained, volume II. Slight rubbing to boards. Prior owner's bookplates tipped to front pastedown of each volume. Internally firmly bound. Pages slightly age toned to extremities, with light scattered spots to the occasional page. Overall Condition: Good GLOSSARY OF TERMS Overall Condition (Dustwrapper condition rating is shown after that for the book itself, where a dustwrapper is present) Fine - Very well preserved copy showing very little wear Very Good Indeed - Only one or two minor faults, really a very attractive copy Very Good - Quite a wide term meaning no major faults but probably several smaller ones often expected given the age of the book, but still a respectable copy Good - Meaning not very good. Some more serious faults as will be described in the condition report under 'condition' Good Only - Meaning one or more faults that could really do with repair Fair - As with good only above but with other faults leaving a compromised copy even after repair Poor - Really bad and possibly seriously incomplete.     I bought this for the copy's associations with a family I'm interested in, thanks to the suggestions about provenance in the seller's description. The description and photos told me all I needed to know about the book - clearly the right family, though I have my own view on the individual who owned it - but that is part of the fund of an old book. It arrived promptly - a couple of days' delay caused by UPS - safely packaged and a good price, I think.
