While aboard the ship, he toured a number of South Pacific islands including Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, New Hebrides, and New Caledonia. The events of this voyage were published in 1853 under the title ‘Journal of a Cruise’ in which Erskine describes the native people groups, island life, canoe travel and fishing, costumes and clothing, landscapes and geography, and much more. This rare first edition is illustrated with engravings in chromolithograph and monochrome colors as well as folding map of the ship’s route. Packaging was great and it's condition was phenomenal better than described and shown in the photos!!!! A fantastic value for it's condition compared to others on eBay. Shipping was fast but UPS did make it a complete hassle. Not the sellers fault by any means as he was quite willing to help when I messaged him! Overall a great experience except for UPS lol. I'm very excited to have this as part of my art deco bar collection!
