Description
Attention Collectors!!! You are bidding on a super rare antique hardcover book. This book contains two very scarce titles in this one volume. The first title in the book is: The History of Scotland, During the Reigns of Queen Mary and King James VI. Till His Accession to the Crown of England : with a Review of the Scottish History Previous to that Period: and an Appendix Containing Original Letters. By William Robertson, Principal of the University of Edinburgh. Printed by J & J Harper, 1831. This title contains 460 pages. There are two copperplate engravings at the front of the book. The second title in the book is: An Historical Disquisition Concerning the knowledge Which the Ancients Had of India; Progress of Trade With That Country, Prior to the Discovery of the Passage to It By The Cape of Good Hope. With an Appendix Containing Observations on the Civil Policy - the Laws and Judicial Proceedings - The Arts - the Sciences - and Religious Institutions of the Indians. By William Robertson, Principal of the University of Edinburgh. Printed by J & J Harper, 1831. This title contains 146 pages. It also has two large fold-out maps of Asia. The maps measure approximately 14" by 20". They remain in very good condition with no tears. This is an extremely rare book. Condition: Book is fully bound in leather. Has four raised bands on spine. The title label on spine is gone. Covers firmly attached with no splitting or cracking of hinges. The leather binding remains in very good condition. All pages are clean and tightly bound with light foxing. Heavier foxing to preliminary pages. Previous owner name on first title page. There is no other writing in book and no previous owner bookplates. The printing of this book was a limited printing as it was printed and distributed only to the booksellers listed at the bottom of the title page and was not available for general public distribution, thus making this book very rare and difficult to find and it would have been printed in significantly lesser quantity. The book remains in overall very good condition. Quite a rare and collectible book! Would make a super addition to a collection. Great gift idea! Ron’s Book Nook was a complete privilege to do business with. Item was exactly as described, was packaged with extreme care and thoroughness to maintain the integrity of the antique book, communication excellent, and item arrived only a couple of days after purchase. Very satisfied with this transaction (price was reasonable), and would definitely recommend this seller.
