Sir Archibald Edmonstone , 3rd Baronet (1795 – 1871) was a British traveller and writer. Edmonstone, the eldest son of Sir Charles Edmonstone, 2nd Baronet, by his first wife Emma, fifth daughter of Richard Wilbraham Bootle of Rode Hall, Cheshire, and sister of Edward Bootle-Wilbraham, 1st Baron Skelmersdale, was born at 32 Great Russell Street, Bloomsbury, London, on 12 March 1795, and entered Eton in 1808. He removed in 1812 to Christ Church, Oxford, where he proceeded B.A. on 29 November 1816. In 1819 he went to Egypt, where he visited and explored two of the oases in the great desert, of which he published an account, with views and plans of the ruined temples and tombs. On the death of his father, 1 April 1821, he succeeded to the baronetcy, and fruitlessly contested his father's parliamentary constituency, Stirlingshire, 24 May 1821. A very scarce work complete with rare map and all plates! “In 1819 Edmonstone went to Egypt, where he visited and explored two of the oases in the great desert, of which he published an account, with views and plans of the ruined temples and tombs.” RAREB1822FORR - 12/22 FORN-SHELF-0459-BB-2410-HKREV155

Just picked up my package from Robin Rare Books and let me start by saying WOW!!! Book as advertised for sure. the value of the book certainly dictated some care in shipping but never did I think to this extent. The packaging was incredible. bigger box than needed at first thought but after opening based on the care and multiple layers of packing It would have survived a Tank rolling over it. Very grateful for you listing and working with me on the book, true piece of history I will cherish

I recently discovered Folio Society books and purchased a number of them from this site to add to my library of Easton Press books. I had a positive experience with each seller. They carefully wrapped the books in packing material to prevent damage during shipping. The books arrived in the condition described. I am looking forward to reading each and every one. I recommend them all.
