Rebacked in quarter morocco with the original card boards. With a folding colour map and eighty-four colour illustrations. Collated complete. A delightful nineteenth century travel guide to Europe, written in an accessible manner for children. The book goes through various European countries, giving an overview and fun facts of each one. Countries mentioned include, Iceland, Russia, Italy, Switzerland, France, Holland, Poland and more. The half title page is present. With three pages of advertisements to the rear of the volume. With the previous owner's ink signature to the title page. CONDITION Rebacked in quarter morocco with the original boards. Externally, a trifle rubbed with rubbing and shelf wear to the extremities. Fading to the spine. Small amount of loss to the upper and lower spine. Marks to the boards and spine. Hinges strained but still firm. Age-toning, scattered spots and handling marks to the paste-downs and free endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean. Age-toning to the edges. Spotting and handling marks throughout. Closed tear of about an inch to the folding map, with some chipping to the left edge. Previous owner's ink signature to the title page. Closed tear of about three inches to page vi, which has been repaired with tape. Closed tear of two inches to the plate opposite page 37. Colour from the plate opposite page 20 has transferred onto the text. Overall Condition: Good GLOSSARY OF TERMS Overall Condition (Dustwrapper condition rating is shown after that for the book itself, where a dustwrapper is present) Fine - Very well preserved copy showing very little wear Very Good Indeed - Only one or two minor faults, really a very attractive copy Very Good - Quite a wide term meaning no major faults but probably several smaller ones often expected given the age of the book, but still a respectable copy Good - Meaning not very good. This now sits alongside a companion volume, another work of Worcestershire historian and antiquarian, John Noak. I very much looking forward to reading it.
