With the previous owner's ink signature to the title page. CONDITION Rebacked in quarter morocco with the original boards. Externally, a trifle rubbed with rubbing and shelf wear to the extremities. Fading to the spine. Small amount of loss to the upper and lower spine. Marks to the boards and spine. Hinges strained but still firm. Age-toning, scattered spots and handling marks to the paste-downs and free endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean. Age-toning to the edges. Spotting and handling marks throughout. Closed tear of about an inch to the folding map, with some chipping to the left edge. Previous owner's ink signature to the title page. Closed tear of about three inches to page vi, which has been repaired with tape. Closed tear of two inches to the plate opposite page 37. Colour from the plate opposite page 20 has transferred onto the text.
