Arnold, an American general in the Revolutionary War attempted to surrender West Point to the British and General Henry Clinton. Clinton supported and facilitated Arnold’s defection. French author and diplomat Francois Barbe-Marbois published an account of Clinton and Arnold’s plan. Marbois supported the American cause against the British noting that Arnold’s treachery was an attack on Enlightenment ideals that were prominent in France. “ Complot d'Arnold et de Sir Henry Clinton ” was written to encourage the American cause. This 1816 first edition was published in Paris and includes the highly desirable map of the Hudson River and the forts near West Point. Packaging was great and it's condition was phenomenal better than described and shown in the photos!!!! A fantastic value for it's condition compared to others on eBay. Shipping was fast but UPS did make it a complete hassle. Not the sellers fault by any means as he was quite willing to help when I messaged him! Overall a great experience except for UPS lol. I'm very excited to have this as part of my art deco bar collection!
