By Mungo Park and printed in New York City by Evert Duyckinck. 1813, 261 pp plus 94 pp appendix, 7 x 4.5”, 12mo, hardcover full leather. In as-is condition, with rubbing and wear to boards and spine. Cracking to hinges at front and back. Includes a foldout map, of which one piece if torn but included, along with the top left side being missing. Map reinforced with newspaper on back. Occasional wear to text block. General age-related toning to pages, along with periodic foxing and wear. Please see photographs and ask any questions prior to purchasing. A scarce and early version of the works by the late Mungo Park (1771-1806), a Scottish explorer who would make a later trip into the African interior, dying in what is now Nigeria. The shipping was fast and the book was extremely well packaged. The book itself is exactly as pictured and although rare books are expected to be expensive, I was able to get a small discount that at least covered the shipping. I'm happy with my purchase, so I can say that it was a good value. I love to find old relics that kind of come full circle to find their home. Just picked up my package from Robin Rare Books and let me start by saying WOW!!! Book as advertised for sure. the value of the book certainly dictated some care in shipping but never did I think to this extent. The packaging was incredible. bigger box than needed at first thought but after opening based on the care and multiple layers of packing It would have survived a Tank rolling over it. Very grateful for you listing and working with me on the book, true piece of history I will cherish
