Volume I illustrated with a frontispiece and two portrait plates, volume II with a frontispiece and twenty plates, volume III with a frontispiece and twenty plates, and volume IV with a folding map frontispiece and nine plates. Collated, complete. A survey of the history of the city from the 'earliest period to the present time'. Bookplate of William Smith to front pastedown of volume I. CONDITION In tree calf bindings. Joints starting, with boards generally firmly held. Rear boards of volumes II and IV tenderly held. Instances of significant rubbing to board centres. Volumes III and IV hinges reinforced. Bookplate to volume I front pastedown. Volume I title page reinforced with tape to the gutter. Pages age toned, with instances of spotting throughout, and foxing to pages facing tape. Folding map frontispiece to volume IV reinforced with tape.
