Remarkably well preserved in original binding this 1802 full leather hardcover was Printed by A Strahan, printers for T Cadell and W Davies in the Strand and W. Creech at Edinburgh. Nameplate with coat of arms of previous owner, Earl of Dalhousie (presumed to be the 9th) on front endsheet. The Earl of Dalhousie is a title in the Peerage of Scotland, held by the Chief of Clan Ramsay. He was Governor of Nova Scotia from 1816 to 1820, Governor General of British North America from 1820 to 1828 and later Commander-in-Chief in India.
