The Holy Bible Printed And Published By Holbrook And Fessenden. No date listed. Likely circa 1822. Extensive family history of the Johnson Family located in and around Montgomery County Pennsylvania going back to 1776 with John Johnson. Also history of the Van Blargan family on a separate sheet of paper. One entry makes mention of a civil war soldier named Jesse F. Johnson who evidently went in place of (substitute) Elias Snyder in Troy, on, or about, the first day of March 1865. The entry also makes mention of Captain J.L. Thomas, possibly confederate Captain. Mentions that Jesse Johnson died on June 2 1865 in Raleigh North Carolina, presumably in the war. Leather bound bible is 11.5" x 9.25" x 3". Front cover is detached, along with the first 5 pages. Those five pages have damage as shown. Binding for the rest of the pages is good. Normal foxing and staining of pages but very readable. Some illustrations show a bit more staining. Many fantastic illustrations throughout, a few pull out maps and other charts. Some found objest, such as a flower and other writings have been left inside. Even has an old torn piece from a $10 confederate bill. Truly a one of a kind bible with an important history of the Johnson family in the 1800's Will be packed well for safe delivery.
