The books are in English and are illustrated with the first edition original plates. Size 8.7/8” x 10.5/8” The front and back covers have been replaced in its 225+ year life and reinforced with tape. The front leather is original and has attractive look. Volume 8 is missing some of its leather front and is pictured. Some volumes are somewhat stiff. Some foxing mainly at beginning and end of book but most plates are clean as can be seen in pictures. Has name of previous owner which I can’t make out. If any Ebayer recognizes name please let us know. Thanks This new edition of the work was published 1783-1797. The engraved title-plates to volumes 1-5 and 8 are undated; vol. 6 is dated 30 Dec. 1785, while vol. 7 is dated 1797. The portrait of Grose was by Nathaniel Dance, engraved by Bartolozzi. In Volume 8 Page number 172 incorrectly printed as 217. Keep in mind the shipping price also covers handling fees, packaging materials & time, not just postage.
