William Guthrie was a Scottish writer and journalist, now remembered as a historian. A geographical, historical and commercial of present several nations of the world. This is his most noted book, which reached numerous editions, and was translated into French in 1801. He first engaged on parliamentary debates for Gentleman’s Magazine, his reports being revised by Samuel Johnson. He gradually made a reputation as a political writer, and in 17545 received a pension of 200 euros a year form the Pelham administration. RAREA1794FOPA.
