In the original Latin. Quintus Curtius Rufus' biography on the life of Alexander the Great, originally written in the 1st century AD. This work is the only surviving extant Latin biography on Alexander. Published by the family of Dutch booksellers, publishers, and printers, Elzevir. Their books, in particular their series of duodecimo 'Elzevirs', have become famous and desirable amongst booksellers. Register runs as: *6, A-P12. Collated, complete. CONDITION In a full calf binding. Externally, generally smart, with rubbing to the boards and spine. Light bumping to the extremities. A small amount of loss to the head of the spine. Small chip to the tail of the spine. Joints are staring. A few light marks to the boards and spine. Hinges are strained but remain firm. Bookplate to the front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean, with a few scattered spots. Prior owner's ink to the verso of the title page, and to a couple of other pages. Ink to page 262. Overall Condition: Good Only GLOSSARY OF TERMS Overall Condition (Dustwrapper condition rating is shown after that for the book itself, where a dustwrapper is present) Fine - Very well preserved copy showing very little wear Very Good Indeed - Only one or two minor faults, really a very attractive copy Very Good - Quite a wide term meaning no major faults but probably several smaller ones often expected given the age of the book, but still a respectable copy Good - Meaning not very good.
