1656 Church History Thomas Fuller Cambridge KNIGHTS Monks MAPS Heraldry Bible Thomas Fuller was a 17 th -century English historian who particularly notable for his historical accounts of English worthies and the Church of England. In 1655, Fuller wrote his best work, ‘ Church History of Britain’ . This chronological account covers the history of the church from the birth of Jesus through 1648 and was immensely popular throughout England and the English-speaking world. This work, however, was not beloved by everyone. One of its greatest critics was Peter Heylin who vehemently attacked ‘ Church History ’. This book includes various sections on church history including a ‘ History of Waltham-Abbey in Essex’ and a ‘History of the University of Cambridge’ . This 1656 edition includes all of the expected sections and parts as well as the double-page engravings such as the map of Cambridge and the arms of the Knights and Monks of William the Conqueror.
