According to Tyerman, “Thomas Fuller’s ‘History of the Holy Warre is one of the more interesting histories of the crusades written by an Englishman.” While many works concerning the Crusades were written and published over the 17 th - and 18 th -centuries, Thomas Fuller’s was the first Anglican view of the Crusades and the first in English following the Reformation . Modern Crusades scholars such as Christopher Howse describe Fuller’s account as a mocking of the Crusades and the allure of Islamic pilgrimage.
